What Somnii is

Creatine and magnesium at researched doses, in one nightly sachet

200mg Magnesium bisglycinate 5g Creatine monohydrate 100mg L-theanine
What changes
Muscle gets harder to hold onto

What shifts as estrogen falls

MuscleLost faster, and rebuilt more slowly.
BoneDensity declines alongside it.
RecoveryThe same session takes longer to come back from.
EnergyLess of it, and it runs out sooner.
01

Muscle is lost faster during perimenopause

As estrogen falls, women lose muscle and bone density more quickly than before. It begins years before periods stop and continues afterwards.

Holding onto muscle now takes work that used to happen on its own, and that work depends on being able to fuel it and recover from it. Which is where creatine comes in.

02

Women benefit more from creatine supplementation

A 2021 review in Nutrients reports that women hold roughly 70 to 80% less creatine than men to begin with. The body makes some of its own and takes in the rest from food, mainly red meat, which women on average eat less of.

A lower starting point means more room to move. The same review notes that because creatine kinetics are affected by sex hormones, supplementation may be particularly important during and after menopause.

What it does
Puts spent energy back together

The cycle every cell runs on

ATP is spentUsing energy strips a phosphate group off it.
It is now uselessUntil that phosphate goes back on.
Creatine steps inHands a stored phosphate straight back.
ResultThe fastest route the body has to replace ATP.
03

Creatine replenishes ATP, the energy your cells run on

Every cell runs on ATP. Spending it strips off a phosphate group, and that group has to go back on before the cell can use it again. Creatine is stored with a spare phosphate attached, ready to hand one over the moment it is needed.

It is the fastest route the body has for putting ATP back together. That matters for the effort itself and for what comes after it, because recovery is an energy process too.

04

Your brain runs on the same energy as your muscles

For its size the brain uses more energy than any other organ, and it draws on the same phosphate reserve muscle does. So it runs short first, and the shortfall shows up as slower recall, lost words and rereading the same email.

That is why creatine research in women covers mood and cognition alongside strength. It is an energy compound before it is a gym one.

The catch
The handover runs on magnesium

Creatine kinase, and what it works on

The enzymeCreatine kinase performs the phosphate transfer.
Its substrateNot free ADP. Magnesium-bound ADP.
The productNot free ATP either. Magnesium-bound ATP.
SoNo magnesium, no handover.
05

Creatine cannot work without magnesium

The transfer is done by an enzyme called creatine kinase, and that enzyme does not work on ATP and ADP in their bare form. Its actual substrates are the magnesium-bound versions of both.

The enzymology is blunt about it: free ATP is not a substrate for creatine kinase. The true substrate is the ATP-magnesium complex. Magnesium is not a helpful addition to this pathway. It is part of the machinery.

Both halves
Two halves of the same problem

Where each active acts

Creatine Supplies the phosphate that rebuilds ATP
+
Magnesium Makes ATP and ADP usable to the enzyme

One reaction, two requirements

L-theanine Settling at the point of falling asleep

Two halves of one process, plus the part neither reaches.

06

Creatine and magnesium: two halves of the same problem

Taking creatine on its own is not pointless, and most people have enough magnesium for the pathway to function. But magnesium intake from food is commonly reported below recommended levels, and the same hormonal stretch that raises the demand for creatine keeps the stress response active, which uses magnesium.

Adding one and ignoring the other means topping up half of a reaction that needs both. 200mg magnesium bisglycinate and 5g creatine monohydrate, at the amounts used in the research, in one sachet.

L-theanine is the third. It has nothing to do with this reaction, and covers the part neither of the other two reaches, which is how settled a person feels at the point of falling asleep.

07

What consistency can do

Creatine is not used at the moment it is swallowed. It is held in tissue and drawn on when a phosphate is needed, so what is available depends on how full those stores are.

At 5g daily that takes around three to four weeks. Taking it on the days it seems needed never fills them, which is the most common reason people conclude creatine did nothing for them.

Full stores are the point. Everything creatine is capable of depends on there being enough of it there when a phosphate is needed, and that is a function of how many days in a row it has been taken.

08

Thirty nights is enough to know

Magnesium and L-theanine act from the first night. Creatine takes three to four weeks of daily intake before stores fill and the daytime part arrives.

A box is thirty sachets, which covers both. Long enough to know whether it belongs in the routine.

The formula

What is in each sachet

Magnesium bisglycinate
200mg
Acts from the first night. Relaxes muscles and nerves, takes part in the stress response, and makes ATP usable.
Creatine monohydrate
5g
Builds over three to four weeks. Rebuilds ATP after it has been spent, in the brain as well as in muscle.
L-theanine
100mg
Acts from the first night. Supports a calm state at the point of falling asleep, without causing drowsiness.

One lemon ginger sachet, thirty to a box. No melatonin, no added sugar, no artificial color, no filler. Every batch is checked by an independent lab against the label, along with heavy metals and bacteria.

Taking it

Easy enough to stick to

The key to consistency is a good experience.

One sachet, not three tubs

No capsules, no scoop, no containers to line up. Tear, stir, done in thirty seconds.

Delicious, not just tolerable

Real lemon and ginger, no added sugar, dissolves clear. A drink to look forward to, not one to get through.

Gentle every night

Bisglycinate is absorbed well, so it is easy on the stomach. No melatonin, no heavy morning.

Why these three?

Magnesium bisglycinate. Helps muscles and nerves relax, and makes ATP usable. Bonded to glycine so it is absorbed well.

Creatine monohydrate. Rebuilds ATP after it has been spent, in the brain as well as in muscle.

L-theanine. Supports a calm state at the point of falling asleep, without causing drowsiness the next morning.

All three. Magnesium and creatine act on the same energy process at two different points. L-theanine covers what that process does not reach.

Is 5g enough, or do I need to load?

5g daily is the standard maintenance amount used in most creatine research, and it fills stores over about three to four weeks without a loading phase. Loading protocols reach the same place faster by taking considerably more per day for the first week, and they are harder on the stomach.

Worth knowing: some of the strongest findings on muscle and bone in post-menopausal women used much higher doses alongside resistance training. This formula is built around the standard daily amount, not those protocols.

Can I just take creatine on its own?

Yes, and plenty of people do. The point of this page is narrower: the reaction creatine takes part in requires magnesium, so the two are linked whether or not they arrive in the same product.

Most people have enough magnesium for the pathway to function. Intake from food is commonly reported below recommended levels though, which is why pairing them is reasonable rather than novel.

Will creatine make me bulky?

No. Creatine does not build muscle on its own. It supports the energy system that training draws on, which is a different job. Visible muscle comes from training and eating for it, and it takes deliberate effort over a long time.

What creatine does is make the work possible to do and recover from. That is the opposite of something happening to a body without its owner deciding to.

What about water retention and bloating?

Creatine is stored inside muscle cells and draws a small amount of water in with it. That is intracellular water, which is where it is meant to be, and it is not the same thing as holding water under the skin. The puffiness people picture when they hear water retention is subcutaneous, and that is not what this is.

The bloating people do sometimes report tends to come from loading protocols, which involve taking considerably more per day for the first week. This formula uses a steady 5g daily instead, with no loading phase.

Digestive upset from a sachet is more often the magnesium than the creatine, and it depends on the form. Bisglycinate is bonded to glycine and absorbed along amino acid pathways, which is why it is the form suited to taking every night.

Why take creatine at night rather than in the morning?

Creatine does not need a particular time of day, because it is stored rather than used on the spot. The magnesium and L-theanine are there for the evening, so the sachet is taken then and the creatine rides along with it.

Ingredients

Magnesium bisglycinate 200mg elemental, creatine monohydrate 5g, L-theanine 100mg from green tea, natural lemon and ginger flavor.

30 sachets per box, 7.6g per sachet. No melatonin, no added sugar, no artificial colors, no fillers or bulking agents, no proprietary blends.

Science & certifications

Third-party testing. Every batch is checked by an independent lab against the label, plus heavy metals and bacteria. Eurofins, July 2026: magnesium 236mg, L-theanine 103mg, creatine 5.68g. Each one at or above what the box says.

Certifications. FDA registered, GMP certified facility.

Directions

One sachet stirred into water, cold or warm, 30 to 45 minutes before bed. Daily. 30 sachets per box.

Consult a physician before use, particularly during pregnancy or while taking prescription medication. Magnesium can interact with some medications, including certain antibiotics.

What to expect

Week 1 to 2. The sleep side. Magnesium and L-theanine work from the first night.

Week 3 to 4. Creatine takes a few weeks to build up in muscle and brain, so the daytime difference comes later.

Which is why most people start with two or three boxes rather than one.

"I wasn't seeking a remedy"

I just thought it was normal to be tired. I usually hit a wall at 3, 4pm and it's a challenge for me to continue my day. I've always been a good sleeper, but when my three-year-old wakes me at night it's hard to fall back asleep. Not anymore. I'm not hitting that wall at 3pm. My energy level is just stable, normal.

"Wake up genuinely rested"

What sold me is that there's no melatonin in it. I used to take melatonin gummies and I'd wake up groggy and foggy, almost like a hangover. I fall asleep more easily but wake up genuinely rested rather than zombied out.

"Peace of mind daily"

as a mom I really dont mess around with quality. this is third party tested, GMP, and they even test for heavy metals, which honestly most brands dont bother with. it gives me peace of mind taking it daily, and it works.

"Honestly a 10/10"

Tastes amazing and mixes smooth, not gritty at all. Real lemon honey ginger flavor, monk fruit so no sugar. My stomach's been happy since I started, the magnesium is the gentle kind so no laxative nonsense.

"Not sweet, which I like"

Took a bit of time to arrive, but I like the flavor. I guess it's quite natual so it doesn't taste sweet at all. If you like really sweet stuff then better try another brand

Good to know

The things people ask

How do I know if this is even my problem?

The pattern this formula is built around is sleep that breaks up in the second half of the night, followed by a day that runs out earlier than it should. If neither of those is familiar, this is probably not the thing to try.

It is also worth saying plainly that persistent tiredness can have causes a supplement will not touch, including thyroid and iron issues among others. Anyone tired enough to be worried should see a doctor rather than start here.

How long before I notice anything?

Magnesium and L-theanine act from the first night. Creatine takes around three to four weeks of daily intake before stores fill, so the daytime part arrives later than the evening part.

How much anyone notices depends on where they start. Individual results vary, and some people notice very little.

Can I speed the creatine part up?

Loading protocols exist, and they involve taking considerably more per day for the first week. This formula is built around a steady 5g daily instead, which reaches the same place a little later and is easier on the stomach.

What happens if I miss a night?

One missed night is not a reset. Creatine stores draw down slowly, so an occasional gap mostly just pushes the timeline out. Regular gaps are different, because stores never fill in the first place.

What will it not do?

It is a dietary supplement, not a treatment. It does not diagnose or treat a sleep disorder, and anyone who suspects one should speak to a doctor rather than start here.

It also does not replace the basics. A dark cool room, a consistent wake time and a phone left in another room remain the highest-value changes available for sleep, and nothing in a sachet substitutes for them.

It is not a sedative either. Nothing in it is designed to knock anyone out.

Why do results vary so much between people?

Starting points differ. Someone whose magnesium intake is already below recommended levels has more room to move than someone whose intake is fine. Creatine stores start lower in women than in men, and lower again on a diet with little red meat.

Four weeks describes how the ingredients behave, not how anyone will feel. Individual results vary, and some people notice very little.

Who is Somnii for?

Women in the years when sleep is least reliable and the demands are highest. That looks different depending on where someone is: broken nights with small children, hormonal change through perimenopause and menopause, or the point where holding onto muscle and bone takes more work than it used to.

It is a dietary supplement, not a treatment for a diagnosed sleep disorder. Anyone who suspects one should speak to a doctor.

Will the creatine make me bulky or bloated?

Creatine is in this formula for the brain rather than for size. It draws a small amount of water into muscle cells, which is not the same as holding water under the skin, and it does not build muscle on its own. Visible muscle comes from training and eating for it.

The 5g here is the amount used in most of the research, taken daily rather than loaded.

Why is there no melatonin in it?

Melatonin is a hormone that signals when sleep should begin, so it acts before sleep starts. This formula works on staying asleep and on the energy available the next day.

There is also a difference between a nutrient, which the body takes in from outside, and a hormone, which the body already makes for itself. There is nothing here to wean off.

Can I take it in the morning instead of at night?

Creatine does not need a particular time of day, so that part works whenever it is taken. Magnesium and L-theanine are there for the evening, and that is where most of their value sits.

What does it taste like?

Real lemon and ginger, sweetened with monk fruit. Light rather than sweet, and not medicinal. It works in cold or warm water and dissolves to a clear pale yellow with nothing left at the bottom.

No added sugar, no artificial color, no filler.

Will it upset my stomach?

The form of magnesium is the usual culprit. Poorly absorbed forms stay in the digestive tract and hold water there. Bisglycinate is bonded to glycine, an amino acid, and is absorbed along amino acid pathways instead, which is why it is the form suited to taking every night.

Is it safe with medication, or during pregnancy or breastfeeding?

Consult a physician before use, particularly during pregnancy, while breastfeeding, or while taking prescription medication. Magnesium can interact with some medications, including certain antibiotics.

This is a dietary supplement. These statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration, and it is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease.

Is it third-party tested?

Every batch is sent to an independent lab and checked against the label, along with heavy metals and bacteria. Eurofins tested a production batch in July 2026 and measured magnesium at 236mg, L-theanine at 103mg and creatine at 5.68g, each at or above what the box says.

Made in an FDA registered, GMP certified facility.
